Meet Team Six, three musicians with Oklahoma and Texas ties. The composer plays tuba, the pianist composes, and the singer is an arts administrator: we love to see it!

Chris McLaughlin (composer) is a tubist and composer based in the Oklahoma City metro area. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelors of Music in Tuba Performance and a secondary emphasis in Music Composition. He is currently pursuing a masters degree in Tuba Performance at the Greenwood School of Music at Oklahoma State University. 

Their compositions and arrangements have been performed by the Oklahoma Composers’ Orchestra, the University of Oklahoma Wind Symphony, the Vento Aureo Saxophone Quartet, and the University of North Texas Collevoxus Saxophone Quartet. Their composition teachers include Marvin Lamb and Konstantinos Karathanasis.”

A native of Akron, Ohio, Danny Milan is an active performer, teacher, and composer, having recently performed at Carnegie Hall and the George Enescu Museum in Bucharest, România. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Kent State University (2013), a Master of Music in Piano Performance from Bowling Green State University (2016), and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Oklahoma (2019). Dr. Milan is currently Assistant Professor of Piano and Piano Pedagogy at Texas Woman’s University and is the leading scholar in the United States on the piano compositions of Dinu Lipatti.

Natasha Naik is a mezzo-soprano originally from Edmond, OK. Notable roles include Mad Margaret in Ruddigore (Cimarron Opera), Mad Margaret in Ruddigore (Cimarron Opera Company), Fenena in Nabucco (Opera Ithaca), Scribe/Maria Maddelena in Galileo Galilei (Cincinnati Conservatory MainStage), Dorabella in Così fan tutte (University of Oklahoma), Mercédès in Carmen (Cincinnati Conservatory French Opera Gala). She holds a Master of Music in Voice from the College Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati and a Bachelor of Music in Voice (summa cum laude) from the University of Oklahoma. In addition to her work as a performer, she is currently the Interim Executive Director for Cimarron Opera Company and the Programs Manager for Cincinnati Song Initiative.
